Good
and Welfare Guidelines
It is P&As
desire to recognize certain significant events in its memberships
lives. These events are currently restricted to the birth
of member's child, a member's death or death in their family,
or their retirement from Wayne State University. These contributions
are some suggested guidelines for the use of union funds for
good and welfare purposes.
New Parent
A $100.00 U.S. Savings
Bond (currently the purchase price of this bond is $50.00)
will be given to a child born to an eligible member.
Member's Death/Death
In The Immediate Family
A $50.00 memorial contribution
will be made to the organization designated by the family
of the deceased. In cases where a particular organization
is not specified, the board and/or it's designee will make
the contribution as it deems appropriate--perhaps a donation
to a WSU organization.
Note: 'Immediate Family
is defined in our current collective agreement. Husband,
wife, mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandmother,
grandfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law,
sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Aunts, uncles,
nephews, nieces and cousins, shall he considered members of
the immediate family only if living in the employee's household.
Unfortunately, since
P&A is staffed primarily by volunteers, it is often difficult
to receive notice of a death and to reach in a timely basis.
This is the reason for a memorial gift rather than flowers.
Whenever possible, the President will send a card of sympathy
to the family on behalf of P & A.

Retirement From
WSU
A $50.00 check will
be presented to the eligible member.
The above-suggested
guidelines may be revised by the board as directed by the
times.
